Most of us have heard about Self Care but really never took time to think about the benefits of Self Care And why it is necessary.

We all have busy days, mainly rotating around work, kids, bills, family and so much more that we end up forgetting about taking care of us.

As a woman, I  take care of things all round me both at work and at home and it is even harder for moms to just get 5 minutes to themselves without interruptions but Self Care is necessary because we then become capable of handling stressful moments,  more,  when our bodies are rejuvenated and physically efficient.

Taking sometime to maintain self-care has some benefits that can be achieved in several ways:

Gives You the Confidence

I used to enjoy my sleep and like most people I always got out of bed just in time to take a shower, dress up and rush to work. I never really understood the importance of waking up early enough until COVID happened. 

Unfortunately or fortunately, the past few months have been intense which has encouraged me to focus on certain areas of my life that needed improvement. 

During this period, I am waking up an hour earlier to reflect on what needs to be done throughout the day, organize my thoughts, and exercise,  which in turn has given me more confidence to handle stressful-busy moments at work.

Helps You Become More Productive

I must admit that I have scattered thoughts and if you are someone like me, there is high chance of easily forgetting important stuff.  

To fix this, you should get a  journal, where to write your to- do-list of things that include daily /weekly goals. That way, you are more efficient and productive.

It’s A Reminder That You are Important

Self-care is necessary to remind yourself and others that you and your needs are important too. Life is too short to not treat yourself. 

Be it that you’ve accomplished a long-term goal that you have been working toward or had the most productive day and checked off everything on your to-do list, you’re worth it . There are so many ways you can pamper yourself. 

 It’s okay to take a day off of work, grab that book you’ve wanted to start, head to your favorite park, and spend some hours reading it. Splurge on clothes or makeup, Or maybe turn off your phone, and stay away from your computer. Spend the day having complete “you” time!

Keeps Your Physical & Mental Health In-check

As I have mentioned in previous posts, it is very important for you to be physically and mentally fit. This is one of the benefits of Self Care and why it is necessary.

As part of being healthy, it is advisable to at least get 7 hours of sleep daily.  Also, as scary as it might be to socialize due to the COVID Pandemic, we still need to surround ourselves with a few good people who we love and care about, and also we need to keep an active social life.

Visit friends, go hiking, Listen to our favorite music or maybe organize a date night with a partner at home and whatever else floats your boat.

You Learn to Love Your Life..Again

Life! What can I say… There are bills to be paid,  we keep loosing loved ones, work is hectic and so on, it seems as though bad days are hard to get over, next thing you know,  life becomes more of a chore.

The good thing is you are not alone, we have all been there but at a certain point you need to start finding joy again in the little things. 

You need to choose happiness and make each day count, like that saying we keep hearing over and over again “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”.

When you are mindful about all you have and about the fact that life is wonderful, you will be much resilient when a problem comes into your way and it will be easier to find a way to solve it.

Loving yourself and knowing  that you are AMAZING is another beautiful reason as why practicing Self Care is important.
